I have had so many changes in my body since fertility treatments, not just physically, but emotionally, that I have felt were entirely due to all of the dramatic hormonal changes, shutting the body off, and then on again. I was not surprised when I found an article about increased risk of depression after ivf. I do not think it is just the emotional toll it takes, but also the huge changes in your body hormonally. I believe there needs to be more follow-up of women who have had IVF. I am sure there is a great deal to be learnt about their physical and mental health which could provide valuable information for the future treatment of infertility and the risks that it may involve for some women. I think my own case history would be interesting and would be agreeable to making my IVF and subsequent medical notes available to an individual or research organisation looking at mental health after successful IVF or any other aspect of infertility treatment.
